BMB Writers and Creatives Network

The Hikma Partnership is working in collaboration with WASLA Media to gather a group of BMB academic writers for fellowship and shared working.

“As BMBs, your creative calling in academic writing is not just a personal gift but a powerful tool to equip the church and serve society,” wrote Parsa to their first cohort. “Through scholarly writing, you can convey the beauty and relevance of the gospel, the richness of your spiritual journey, and the hope found in Christ. Your academic contributions can bridge cultural gaps, foster understanding, and offer valuable insights into the unique challenges and triumphs of the BMB community.”

The first group have been meeting online to discuss challenges of BMB character formation, and are running a series of online conferences in 2026/7 which will lead to a multi-authored book on this topic:

From Transformation to Vocation:
Cultivating Christlike Character in BMBs for Discipleship and Leadership

In many believers of Muslim background (BMB) communities, rapid growth and complex pressures can lead to gaps in long-term discipleship and leadership formation. Cultivating deeply rooted Christlike character is essential for sustaining healthy leaders, credible witness, and vocational ministry that can serve BMB communities for generations.

These conferences are the first academic initiative led by believers of Muslim background (BMB) blending research, reflection, and creative expression. While grounded in scholarship, it is not purely academic. Insights, stories, and outcomes are shared with the wider church to equip, inspire, and strengthen discipleship and leadership, benefiting the global church. The network is a partnership between the Hikma Partnership and Wasla Media Project, bringing together mentorship, research, and equipping to support and amplify BMB voices.

Saturday 10 October 2026, 1:00pm – 6:00pm GMT

Comments from previous events:

"I was encouraged by how strongly the voices of BMBs were heard and valued across different contexts. Their testimonies carried weight and seeing them affirmed gave me hope that their experiences will shape meaningful conversations and inspire deeper commitment to God’s mission."

"I was reminded and challenged that the Bible and biblical teaching is not a 'cheat code' or self-help (like CBT) but the revelation and invitation to encounter and enter relationship with Jesus on a journey of transformation into a new identity."

"I appreciated the rhythm between creative presentations and academic papers. The 20‑minute breaks provided needed space for reflection. The interview discussions were especially effective, as presenters wove their stories and contexts into the talks, making the sessions engaging, authentic, and deeply connected."

Our vision is to encourage emerging BMB disciples, leaders and practitioners in their thinking, research, writing, creating, innovating and flourishing.
