Content:
The biographical sketches included in this volume were drawn from the experience of a veteran missionary to Iran, a country in which he served for some forty-three years. They provide striking and dramatic proof of the power of the Holy Spirit, demonstrating that even under the most difficult circumstances, “the true Gospel is coming to men the whole world over.”
Here are the stories of ten Muslims who were converted to Christianity, classic stories of the grace of God in operation. Their purpose is to illustrate the power of the Gospel in the midst of a frequently hostile environment and in the lives of a people fiercely loyal to quite another gospel. They are particularly instructive and inspiring for Christians in this country, showing as they do what it means for men and women to confess Christ in a land where to do so is to invite mockery and hatred. As the author points out in his introduction, Islam is not only a religion; it is a system of life in which political, social, economic, and religious elements are united, and the convert to Christianity feels very much alone. Even so, the good news of the Gospel prevails, the words and lives of those whose stories are here told give eloquent testimony to the practical consequences of heeding the great commandment to preach the Gospel to every people.
