Restorations Essentials represents a framework through which to identify ways in which we as the Church have not been counter-cultural where we’ve needed to be. The basic framework looks at God’s original design for men and women in Genesis 1 and 2, Satan’s deception and distortion of this design in Genesis 3, and how Jesus restores us to God’s original intent and purpose for us in the New Testament.
The material looks at 5 identity areas:
- Value & Status
- Purpose & Unity
- Freedom & Limits
- Authority & Submission
- Innocence & Acceptance
Using this lens, we look at how cultural expectations shape men and women, and we take into account the reality of many ministry situations in which these expectations keep them from succeeding. We then explore five identity distortion areas that Satan uses to attack us (and thereby, God). These help us see how Satan’s tactic of sowing doubt and distrust resulted in the destruction of relationship and separation from God.
Lastly, we look at the ways in which Jesus modeled a restored pattern of relationship in the New Testament. By studying Scriptural examples of how he interacted with people, we name the ways in which our identity is restored back to God’s original blueprint for relationship through Jesus’ work on the cross.
The Essentials training comprises three sessions of two hours each and is offered online at no cost.
