The article highlights the complexities of persecution and discipleship in high persecution contexts.

Content:

This article explores issues pertinent to BMBs’ baptism in environments marked by violence and persecution and further offers missiological perspectives helping decrease the recurrence of persecution for reasons excluding witnessing the gospel. Several secondary reasons regarding persecution were identified partially associated with the presence of outsiders, including baptism encouraged and administered by outsiders, worshipping regularly with outsiders, and working for Western Christian relief organizations. Other reasons for persecution are having a home-based faith community led by locals and baptism.
