From Transformation to Vocation:
Cultivating Christlike Character in BMBs for Discipleship and Leadership
In many believers of Muslim background (BMB) communities, rapid growth and complex pressures can lead to gaps in long-term discipleship and leadership formation. Cultivating deeply rooted Christlike character is essential for sustaining healthy leaders, credible witness, and vocational ministry that can serve BMB communities for generations.
These conferences are the first academic initiative led by believers of Muslim background (BMB) blending research, reflection, and creative expression. While grounded in scholarship, it is not purely academic. Insights, stories, and outcomes are shared with the wider church to equip, inspire, and strengthen discipleship and leadership, benefiting the global church. The network is a partnership between the Hikma Partnership and Wasla Media Project, bringing together mentorship, research, and equipping to support and amplify BMB voices.
Saturday 10 October 2026, 1:00pm – 6:00pm GMT
Online: via Zoom (half day conference)
Cost: free, but donations welcome via Donate
Open to all believers—BMBs, supporters, and the global church
Registration: required via this link
The fourth and final event (with different speakers on the same theme) will be held on 30 January 2027.

Patmos Initiative - a global research project from the Bible Society
Having conducted the first phase of research, they are now planning cluster meetings from across seven regions: 1. Sahel, West Africa, 2. Eastern Europe, 3. MENA, Central Asia, 4. Latin America, 5. The West, Australia, New Zealand, 6. Asia, 7. Sub Saharan Africa
For more information, you can read about the first phase of research in the Patmos Typology Report, which digs deeper into the characteristics of each of the seven cluster contexts, and also includes a one-page snapshot of every country that was surveyed. Their hope is that this may be a valuable resource to help shape ministry strategies effectively in every context:
They are seeking to invite a wide range of voices who know each cluster well, to discuss how to ensure the Patmos Mission Tasks (here) best reflect the true Bible engagement needs of each cluster context.
If you are interested in being involved in the regional cluster meetings, please email us at info@word.org.uk and we will put you directly in touch with the organisers.
