Is Christianity in Iran growing or declining? Why have Iranian attitudes towards Christianity shifted such that a significant number have become interested in following the Christian faith in recent decades? Bearing in mind that it is difficult to establish an argument based on direct and solidly evidenced research on Christianity in Iran, due to the socio-political situation there, as well as varying understandings of the meaning of conversion, this paper therefore analyses some of the factors and elements which may underlie this change, using published and web-based material and a survey. The three subjects that have been examined in this paper are the socio-political situation, the socio-cultural/religious and historical condition of Iranian society and the relation of these to religious media.
